2024 Collaboration City of Baltimore State's Attorney Bates and Prince George's County State's Attorney Braveboy
UPDATE
In the upcoming 2024 legislative session, we aim to establish partnerships with the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office and the Howard County State's Attorney's Office. Our focus will be on promoting laws that enhance justice and bolster community safety. We are optimistic that this session will yield positive and meaningful outcomes.

PGSAO
The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is tasked with safeguarding the rights and interests of the approximately one million residents of Prince George's County. The legal division of a state's attorney's office is compartmentalized into multiple departments, each handling various aspects of criminal law. To assist the State's Attorney, a team of several hundred attorneys, prosecutors, investigators, agents, and support staff operate across numerous offices situated throughout Prince George's County.

1st Term Accomplishments

Created a Conviction and Sentencing Integrity Unit, the first of its kind in the state of Maryland.

Successfully fought to strengthen Maryland's Hate Crimes statute, regulate "ghost guns", and make strangulation a first-degree felony.

Launched several new countywide initiatives – the Prince George’s County Carjacking Task Force and Our Streets, Our Future.

Expanded the Back on Track program and other diversion opportunities.

Implemented a program for Emerging Adults (youth between the ages of 18 to 26 years old).

Hired the FIRST sight-impaired Assistant State's Attorney, for Prince George's County.

Increased starting salaries for Assistant State's Attorneys from 57K to 80K.
Units & Divisions
The Office of the State's Attorney is the primary law enforcement agency for Prince George's County, responsible for trying a broad spectrum of criminal cases, including minor traffic offenses to severe homicide cases. At present, State's Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy oversees a team of nearly 200 employees dedicated to securing justice for those affected by criminal activities.
Mother and Daughter Held Without Bond in Connection to Murder of Grandmother
Candace Craig and Salia Hardy appeared in court last Monday and have been charged in connection with the murder of Margaret Craig, who is Candace's mother and Salia's grandmother.
Baby K Held Without Bond
A judge ordered Baby K be held without bond. He appeared in court on June 1st.
He and three others are charged with attempted murder in connection with an attack on a student that took place on a school bus on May 1st.
Capitol Heights Man Convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Related Charges
Jose Gomez, 33, was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor and related charges last week.
Prince George's County Police Officer Sentenced on Second Degree Assault and Misconduct in Office
A Prince George’s County judge sentenced Corporal Darryl Wormuth to five years suspend all but 45 days. On October 20, 2020, in which Corporal Wormuth violently grabbed a 17-year-old boy around the neck and hit with an open hand in that area while he was in handcuffs.
Bowie Man Convicted of Second Degree Murder in Hyattsville Shooting
UPPER MARLBORO, MD (May 12, 2023) – A Prince George’s County jury found 26-year-old Sammie Warren guilty of second degree murder for killing Filomena Vasquez, age 56, in a shooting that occurred January 1, 2020. Warren is scheduled to be sentenced on August 4, 2023. He is facing up to 65 years in prison.
